The Saskatchewan raised songwriter, Belle Plaine, grew up in a small prairie town of 45 people. Her upcoming album, “Malice, Mercy, Grief & Wrath” is her 3rd full-length release, due out October 19, 2018, the date of her Shurniak Gallery concert.
Produced by Jason Plumb at Studio One in Regina, Belle’s new record evokes a classic country influence. “The album’s country side came partly from my upbringing, but also from working closely with my partner, Blake Berglund, and performing with his band-mates, who have become trusted collaborators.” says Belle.
Belle’s greatest strength is her ability to weave stories, genres, and emotions with her formidable voice. Her reverence for artists who defy categorization has led her to create roots music that combines vintage blues and swing tones from the 1940’s with traditional country styles from the Grand Ole Opry. Shurniak Art Gallery is thrilled to present Belle Plaine in Assiniboia on October 19, 2018.
